Before and After
the living room:
the original historic details of the generously sized living room found the right context and scale with a large, hand knotted rug and an authentic mix of vintage and modern pieces. Rich wood accents played beautifully against pops of color echoed in strong, geometrically driven art.
the dining room:
an original built in buffet got the chance to shine against a dark wood dining set that mixed traditional tones with a modern, low profile silhouette. The round table let light and traffic flow through the space, while the period-appropriate Arts + Crafts rug anchored the dining room with echoes of the property’s gorgeous established front and rear gardens.
the bedroom:
the large primary bedroom felt crowded with a tall bed and matching full furniture set. Switching to a low profile frame and a bright area rug brought in the light and brought focus to beautiful hardwood floors and historic trim, while colorful textiles and hand made pieces kept that human connection.
the entry:
a well-scaled hand knotted rug in deep red played up the home’s historic features and created immediate emotional appeal at the front door. A simple seating area brought function to the sunny space without getting in the way.
library den:
from confusing passthrough space to cozy library den. Vintage rich wood cabinetry and beautiful books complimented a perfectly sized sofa for curling up with your next great read. A playful handknotted wool tribal rug reflected light even against the dramatic dark walls, inviting out to the home’s stunning sunroom beyond. Textiles and art all took cues from the nearby gardens with natural motifs and soft, reflective textures.
